Dear Classmates,
The reunion weekend starts Friday August 13th 2004 at Paradise Point
Resort at the Barefoot Bar (the old Vacation Village) located on
Ingraham Street, across from Sea World. We have set the time at 5pm, but
Happy Hour is from 4-6pm. You will be responsible for any drinks and
food you order. Saturday Night August 14th is at the Town and
Country Hotel and I hope you have all received your invitations and
mailed them back to the Rowbothams. Sunday has been changed from
Crown Point to Highwood Park. The Highwood Park is adjacent to La Mesa
Middle School (La Mesa Junior High School when we went there). This is a
time when you can bring your own picnic lunch, your kids, grandkids,
pets, etc. Please bring something to sit on as there are not a lot
of picnic tables. This picnic will be 11am to 4pm. I was told that
The Town and Country Hotel cannot set aside a block of rooms for us, but
you can have the discount rate of $129 a night. Many of you have
reserved already, but I just called them and they urged us not to wait
too long to make our reservations. The number is 619 291-7131. Let
me know if you have any other questions. I cannot wait to see you all.
Love, Diane Wilson

No, it's
not reunion time yet. I know time flies, but not that
fast!
Our next reunion is in 2002. Helix will be 50 years old.
The Foundation
may plan a gala birthday event. I am thinking about
coordinating our 35th
with their party if possible. Watch the website for more information
about the birthday gala.
I'm sad to relay that we have lost two classmates
recently. Bob
Storey passed while sleeping shortly after the arrival of
the new year, and
Richard Loraine died before the new year had begun.
Check out Cathy Scott's website!
www.CathyScott.com Wow, does she have
interesting stories to tell! I know she'd love to hear
from everyone.
One of the things I meant to do, but forgot, was to
include e-mail
addresses of classmates in the directory we had available
at the last
reunion. I'd be happy to check our records for an e-mail
address for
you. Let me know who you'd like to contact. My e-mail
address is new since
the 30th, I think. Memory seems to fly with time, too.
candy@helixhighlanders.com.
Just received a great note from Dwight Roberts...we
missed Dwight and Howard
at the last reunion. As he says....maybe next time.
Dwight invites friends
to contact him at manzanar@earthlink.net.
Did you know that Rick and Sue Scott Edwards and family
own several
motels in Lake Tahoe? It would be fun
to select a date and have whomever was interested book a
reservation. Sue
says October is a great time to visit the area. If you're
interested, let
me know.
If you'd like to have your "news" included on
this page, send it to me.
The Alumni Association is giving us this opportunity to
keep in touch
between reunions. "Thanks" to them. This is a
great idea.
Hope to hear from you!

Each reunion brings news of our
classmates' accomplishments, travels,
grandchildren, and sadly, the passing of
Class of 1968 alumni. The Internet
has brought many new names to our class
registry, some of whom joined us for
the first time since graduation. Recent
additions include Holly (Bacon) Parker, Stanley Baldwin, Jeff Berry,
Edyth (Brasche) Redmann, Haywood Gammon, Anita Gibbons, Lynne (Faulconer)
Wilkinson, Andy Harris, Bob Jackson (who rode his motorcycle down from
Vancouver, WA for our last reunion), Hank Johnson, Don Kleymann, Tim
Lawler, Melanie (Mason) Bruce, Tim Owens, Kirk Rakestraw, Joanne (Randazzo)
McCale, David Reiter, Kim Riley, Nola (Rutledge) Graves,Merri (Warren)
Groves, and Don Westman. Unfortunately, we still have hundreds of
classmates who are "lost" and unaccounted for, although our search is
ongoing.
The In Memoriam list grows longer each
year, and includes Annette Anderson,
Mike Annis, Sharmon Burton, Janet
Chisholm, Cynthia Churchman, Cheryl Denton, Rom Elkins, Pat Haider,
Robert Karr, Mike Kennedy, Fred Kidder, Gary Lawrence, Jim Lee, Mark
Merino, Tim Milligan, Steve Montijo, Carl Peterson, Patty
Plotkins, Ken Prevost, Bruce Riska, Al
Romero, Linda Ruden, Mona (Bender)
Salvia, Steve Sloan, and Linda Wallbrink.
If you have information about any Class of
1968 alumni, please e-mail me at
are. You may have moved, changed e-mail
addresses or area codes and we may not be able to get in touch with
you.
Lastly, I wanted to share a note submitted
by Karen (Zeiters) Kain for our
2002 "early" reunion, which coincided with
the Helix 50th anniversary
celebration.
"Dedicated to the heroes of September 11,
2001: Above all else, September 11,
2001 brought out the best in Americans,
and speaks to our hearts of bravery
and sacrifice, of heroism under fire and
of our unquenchable desire to resist
tyranny from all sources."

Sorry fellow classmates, I have
relocated to Colorado in the summer of 2005. I've been planning this
move for a year now. Unfortunately, I'm unable to locate anyone else who
wants to take over the responsibility. We obviously are not having a 30
Yr Reunion. If you know of anyone interested, please email me at: lwuebold@bresnan.net
and I'll make sure you/they get all the supplies I've been keeping for
the past 10 yrs. -Lorie Wuebold

We're open to having a reunion picnic on August 13th if anyone's
interested (location TBD)...
AND.
---------------
I will throw out a venue for an impromptu Happy Hour on August 12th

Thanks
to everyone who came near and far.. really far for
the great time at
the 20 year reunion. We have started our very own helix
1981 web site .. with
a link to this Helix one of course!
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/helixgrads1981
There's a ton of pictures from the reunion and the picnic
the following day
at Crown Point. If you didn't make it, you were missed
and hopefully this
makes you feel like you were there.
Thanks again! Lizard

We are always looking for Alumni, so please be sure we have updated information.
You can send your email address and keep in contact at helix1985@cox.net . We
have started a group that meets every so often for happy hour or picnics, so if
you want to be included on the email list, be sure to get in touch! It's been a
ton of fun, and you just never know who will show up. We hope to have a list of
"missings" soon, but don't assume we know where you are...shoot us an email to
confirm.

Hello
all! It
seems we're all beginning to get connected to the information super highway, or at least about 6% of us!
Make sure you pass on this website to others that you
remain in contact with. Classmates.com and Alumni.net
help out, but this is the official alumni page. This is
the first newsletter, and to be honest, I don't have a
ton of free time. If you'd like to volunteer to submit a
newsletter on a quarterly basis all it would take is
three more people and we'd be covered once a month.

P.S.
If anything interesting is going on that you would like
announced, just drop us an e-mail.

Hi everyone! I hope your lives
are happy and healthy.
This alum site is being completely revamped
to make way for bigger and better things. I hope you look into
getting net-membership. All proceeds go back to the school, and
it's a great way to keep in touch with everyone from our class. I thinking it would be great to put funds into a scholarship
for a Helix Senior, on behalf of the Class of 1992. Anyone have
any suggestions or ideas on that?
If I get enough response, I would like to have a reunion every 5 years.
The 15th, 25th, etc would be a small get together, or weekend excursion
somewhere, whereas the 20th, 30th, etc. would be our big events like the
10th was.
If you did not make our 10 year reunion, and am unsure if we have your
information, please email
register@helixhighlanders.com and make sure we have your city,
state, and zip, as well as your email address!
Take care, and I hope to
hear from you soon!
