Re: Helix High School Foundation Update
Dear Helix Alumni and/or Scottie Booster,
Thank you for your past support of the Helix High Foundation.
I want our Helix Alumni & Scottie Boosters to understand where we started, where we are currently, and where we are going. Our core mission is to help graduating seniors fulfill their educational goals. It takes a great deal of planning, a lot of hard work, a little luck and some financial assistance to help reach these goals. Some of our Helix alumni have been most fortunate in reaching their goals. As I look at my own life, I know that if I had not had my educational experience, I may have taken a different career path. With our alumni team or collective effort by our alumni base, we can be the most productive foundation in San Diego County. We have an alumni base close to 18,000 since 1952, and a caring group that "bleeds" green and silver.
Financially out 2006-2007 year has not been our most productive. As of June 8th, we have collected $63,000 in actual cash for scholarships. Some of that money will be held in trust and distributed over the next four years. This past Spring at our senior awards assembly at the La Mesa Community Center, we distributed $42,500 for 18 senior scholarships. As of October of this school year, we have $52,000 of committed scholarship money and a plan for 26 plus scholarships for June of 2008.
We had a goal in 2007 to reach $100,000 in our endowment. We fell short, but not entirely disappointed, with a close to $40,000 plus, in that account.
How does all of this happen you ask? With many generous alumni & boosters, lots of hard work and a little luck.
We had 60 paid members this past year and we thank our members for their help. We hope you will renew and that we triple out membership in 2007-08. Remember, we are a 501 © 3 Non-profit corporation and al you donate is tax deductible so, if you have a Tax problem because of your income, let us help. JOIN NOW!

In order to make a difference in our community, we need your support. I have enclosed a brochure for hard copy mail and we have a website with information on Helix Charter High and our alumni for your review.
